Struggle securing Schengen visa appointment from Lagos for Paris Fashion Week

Hey everyone. I am trying to figure out the best way to handle my visa application for France. I am planning to go for Fashion Week to get some inspiration for my sustainable line. The issue is that appointment slots in Lagos are basically nonexistent right now. Also, I am technically a student but I am launching my brand. Should I apply as a student or a business owner? I do not want to get rejected for giving confusing info. Any recent experience with the French consulate here would be amazing.

I was in your shoes last year. The Lagos consulate is extremely strict about categories. Do not mix them up. If your business is not fully registered with tax clearance, apply as a student. I went as a designer to Milan and they asked for piles of financial proof. It is easier to show student status and personal savings or sponsorship. The slots open up at random times, you just have to keep refreshing the page.

Honestly, keep it simple and consistent.

If your main reason for going is Fashion Week and working on your brand, apply under business / professional purpose. Even if you’re technically still a student, your trip purpose is what matters most. Mixing “student” with “launching my brand” can look confusing if not explained clearly.

In your cover letter, you can just say you’re currently a student and also launching a sustainable fashion brand — that’s totally fine. Just make sure your story is clear and supported with documents.

As for Lagos… yeah, slots are really tight right now. People usually get them by checking the TLS site constantly (morning and late night especially)
