Hi everyone, I am looking for some strategic advice. My parents applied for a B1/B2 visa to attend my graduation in the US this coming May, but they were refused under section 214(b) (immigrant intent) at the US Embassy in Kathmandu just yesterday.
The interview was very short; the officer didn’t look at many documents and mostly asked about my status and their jobs before handing the refusal slip. I’m wondering if we should try again immediately since the graduation is a fixed date and a significant event.
- Has anyone had success reapplying quickly for a graduation visit after a 214(b) denial?
- Is it a good strategy if just my mother applies alone this time to show that my father is staying back in Nepal (to prove social/economic ties), or does that look suspicious?
- Are there any specific tips for the Kathmandu post regarding document presentation?
