South Korea Visa Rejected Quickly With Generic Reason For Recent Graduate

Logic check needed. I just got a South Korea tourist visa rejection in 48 hours and I’m trying to debug what went wrong.

Here is my stack:

  • Confirmed itinerary & hotel bookings.
  • Return flights booked.
  • Employer NOC & Salary slips (95k INR/month).
  • Bank statement with 4 Lakhs balance.
  • Cover letter explaining I’m a recent CS grad turned developer.
  • 1 Year ITR (since I only started working recently).
  • Prior travel history: UAE.

The rejection reason was the generic “Failure to substantiate purpose of visit.”

Is the single year ITR the bug here? My bank balance is healthy, but since I was a student before, I don’t have a long financial history. I want to push a reapplication but don’t want another error logs in my passport. Should I wait, or is there a way to optimize my next application?

Greetings. Regarding your financial profile, the single year ITR is likely the issue. Consulates often look for a ‘balance sheet’ of 2-3 years to verify fiscal stability, especially for young solo travelers. While 4 Lakhs is a healthy sum, without a longer audit trail of employment, they may view the funds as temporary. Check the sum of your monthly savings versus that final balance; if there are sudden large deposits, that triggers a flag. I would advise against reapplying immediately unless you can provide significant new financial evidence.
