From the perspective of an educator here in Ankara, the process has hardened significantly. In the archives of my travel history, obtaining a visa was a formality. Recently, I applied for a cultural trip to Italy, and despite my long tenure, the scrutiny was intense. It feels as though the historical context of our relations is ignored by the consulates now.
