No tracking email or SMS received from VFS Global after submission

I submitted my visa application documents yesterday morning at the VFS Global center. The counter staff explicitly told me I would receive a confirmation email and an SMS with my tracking reference number by the end of the business day. It has now been over 24 hours, and I have received absolutely nothing. I have checked my spam folder, trash, and promotions tab multiple times.

I am starting to panic that my file might have been misplaced before it was even dispatched to the embassy. Is this a common system lag, or should I be worried and return to the center immediately?

Realizing this is not about the embassy processing time but strictly the VFS intake acknowledgment, here is the situation.

Has anyone actually validated if the reference number printed on the physical receipt works on their tracking portal without the email confirmation?

This is very common. VFS tracking emails/SMS often come 1–3 days later, even if they say “same day”.

Don’t worry unless:

  • 3 full working days pass with nothing.

If that happens, contact VFS with your receipt and passport number.
Going back immediately usually won’t help — it’s almost always just system delay.
