Clarifying the remote application steps and consultant necessity for UAE freelance visas

Has anyone from Southeast Asia actually managed to finalize the UAE freelance visa process 100% remotely before flying in?

  • Reliability: I’m looking at the GoFreelance options for media/photography. Does the system “actually” issue the entry permit digitally so I can fly in as a resident, or is there a loophole where I still need to enter as a tourist first?
  • Friction: Is the AXS portal user-friendly enough to handle independently? I’m worried about document rejection reasons that are vague, or the system crashing during payment.

I am getting quotes of 5,000+ AED from consultants just to “manage” this, but I’d rather save that cash if the portal works. Would love to hear real experiences before I swipe my card.

Logic check here: You cannot complete the process 100% remotely. The system allows you to get the Entry Permit online (pushed to your email), which lets you enter the country legally to finish the rest. But you absolutely must be physically present in Dubai for the medical blood test and biometrics typing. That part has no remote workaround. As for the consultant? Don’t bother. The portal code is optimized enough; you don’t need to pay someone to click ‘upload’ for you.
