Clarification regarding UK visa application date versus payment date confirmation

I filled in my UK visa application from inside the UK and paid all the fees before my visa expired on 19 January 2026. I didn’t upload any evidence because the system said I didn’t need to provide any.

I thought paying meant the application was submitted, so I was just waiting for a decision. But when I checked later, I saw a message saying I still had to click “Confirm and submit” to send the application, and that I had until 31 March 2026 to do it. I clicked it as soon as I saw it.

Now I’m worried UKVI will treat my application as submitted only on the date I clicked that button, not when I paid.

UKVI uses the date you clicked “Confirm and submit,” not the payment date.

If that was after your visa expired (19 Jan 2026), then your application is considered late — payment alone doesn’t protect your status.

The “31 March” deadline is just to finish the form, not an immigration deadline. Check your submission confirmation date ASAP — that’s the one that matters.
