I am applying for a US B1/B2 visa from Cape Town to attend a prestigious Art Exhibition in New York next month. It is a huge moment for brand awareness and promoting South African tourism trends to an international market.

Here is the snag: The calendar for the US Consulate General in Cape Town is showing the next available interview slot is nearly a year away. I do not have that kind of time.

I need to apply for an expedited appointment. Has anyone here successfully argued for a “Cultural/Business” expedite recently? I know medical emergencies are the standard priority, but this event is fixed in time and represents a significant business opportunity. Any tips on how to phrase the request so they do not just auto-reject it?

  • funerals / urgent family situations
